| | | What is vDate/Chat and how does it work? | | | | vDate/Chat are two ways to have a live text conversation with another member. With vDate (Virtual Date) you use avatars to represent yourself and you can interact with the other members and even play some simple games together. Chat (sometimes called IM for instant messaging) allows two members to carry on a live conversation without the additional visual interaction provided with vDate. A Premium member can invite members who are online and not busy to chat. A Basic (Free) member can accept (or reject) a chat invitation without upgrading.
To invite somebody to Chat or on a vDate, simply find their profile on the site and click on the vDate/Chat icon, then click either the “Date Me” or “Chat Now” button. A message will pop up on that member’s screen asking them to accept (or reject) the chat request. Once it is accepted you can “talk” freely for as long as you’d like. |
| | | How do I know if a member is available for a vDate/Chat? | | | | Premium members can see who is available for a vDate/Chat by looking at a member’s profile. If the vDate/Chat bubble icon is green, they are available. Simply click on the green vDate/Chat and choose either the “Date Me” or “Chat Now” button. |
| | | How do I block somebody from contacting me? | | | | You can block a member from contacting you using an email or smile they have sent you. You cannot block them from a Chat. Simply do not accept any further invitations.
You can also send a request to customer service by clicking on the Contact Us link at the bottom of each page. Just provide the Handle of the person you want blocked and we will gladly do it for you. |
| | | Do I have to be a Premium Member to use vDate or Chat? | | | | No. Any member can go on a Virtual Date (vDate) or Chat if invited. However, only Premium members can invite somebody on a vDate or to Chat. |
| | | Can I disable vDate/Chat? I don’t want any vDate or Chat invitations. | | | | You can show yourself as busy and nobody can send you a vDate or Chat invitation. To show yourself as busy, click on the vDate/Chat status link located in the upper right portion of the page. (when you are logged on). |
| | | How do I open / close the chat window? | | | | Your chat window will automatically open when you start or accept a chat invitation. To minimize the window, simply click on the arrows in the upper left corner of the chat window. |
